2010 Arrive and Race Iron Man Summer Championship

Round one Race Report

The racing was extremely close and the top four drivers were all on the same lap when the chequered flag fell at the end of the 45 minute race. Pete Vincent and James Auld were locked in a wheel to wheel battle for the majority of the race, with Auld just managing to escape and grab the win and also posting the fastest lap on his way to victory. A very quick Amy Kizildagli finished off the podium and also secured the second fastest lap of the race. A lonely but comfortable fourth place was secured by a fast Frazer Cameron. The mid pack battle produced constant position changes throughout the race with David Fry, Nick Cook, Jon Massey and Dean Foulds continually battling for the 5th to 8th places. 9th was rounded up by Andrez Lopez - Morals who's consistent drive saw him post a very credible lap time capable of winning many of our corporate races at Matchams

Round two Race Report

With the absence of championship front runners Pete Vincent and Amy Kizildagi this left the door open for some big points up for grabs. Capitalising on this was Frazer Cameron who's blistering pace saw him take pole position and also the race win with over a lap's lead by the end of the 45 minute race.

A new face to the podium was Dave Fry who's qualifying pace saw him take 3rd. Going one better in the race Fry managed to take the 2nd spot and also set a personal best lap time in the process.

The Final podium place was taken by Dean Foulds who found himself in all kinds of trouble throughout the race. A trip onto the infield lost Foulds a lot of time but a consistent drive saw him grab 3rd spot at the end of the race.

Round 1's winner James Auld struggled for pace this time out and although posting some very credible and consistent lap times could only manage fourth overall.

5th Place went to a new championship contender John Tsangari. Qualifying in 5th John opted for a kart change going into the main race. Although his pace improved Tsangari didn't quite have the pace for a better result but battled hard and is defiantly one to watch going into round 3.

The 6th and 7th place battle was a hard fought one, with new comers Craig Honeybun and Gordan Booth, Honeybun just snatched 6th at the flag.

Round 3 Race Report

The final round of the iron man summer championship took place on the 18th August and while the rest of the UK was experiencing flash floods the Matchams Karting circuit was experiencing some fine weather.

A few new faces cropped up for the final round and a certain Bradley Philpot was quick to stamp his mark on the Iron Man Championship and qualified pole for the race. From pole position, Philpot never looked back and lead the 45 minute race from start to finish setting the fastest lap along his way.

Last months winner and joint championship leader Frazer Cameron was again on form and showed his pace early on by qualifying in 2nd place.  2nd was where Cameron stayed for the duration of the race as he couldn't quite match the pace of winning driver Philpot.

Another new driver to the championship was Anwar Smith. Good consistent pace saw Smith home in 3rd even after suffering from a puncture in the later stages of the race.

The battle for 4th 5th and 6th place could have seen any one of Dean Faulds, Chris Davies and John Tsangari in any one of the positions. Places changed continually throughout the race. Faulds just managed to get the better of Davies and Tsangari at the flag, with the three of them coming home in that order.

First time karter Ben Mead finished a credible 7th place ahead of Will Rigg and Ian Zumbuhl. With clair colman rounding up the top ten.
